030 - Harold Newton Highwaymen 24x41 'Poinciana Shack' on Upson Est.$20K-30K

Harold Newton (1934-1994) Florida Highwaymen, Florida Art Hall of Fame Artist. An early oil painting on orange peel Upson board with heavy palette knife work and a rare pencil sketch of another scene on the back, 'Poinciana Shack'. A well executed river scene with a poinciana tree, a large shack, multiple palms, billowing clouds and vivid color contrast throughout . The pencil sketch on the back is likely an outine for an unfinished painting by the artist, which shows a riverfront scene with boats and boathouses on either side (see pics). Artists fingerprints on the back, along with a 'Plastic Center, Indialantic' stamp, an old dealer of high-quality Highwaymen. Original frame, signed lower right, 24x41 inch (28.5 x 44.5 inch with frame). Overall very good condition
